WORK ON SATURDAY

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—"Exit Saturday Work's" chief cause of complaint is that he has to work while others have the Saturday morning off. Why not let everyone have the full Saturday off? To carry out his idea to its logical conclusion there should be "no trains or trams, no hotels, restaurants, or pictures open, etc. The fact is that the shops being open on Saturday morning is a convenience and necessity for the great body of workers, so that they may have a reasonable time outside of their working hours to purchase their requirements. If the shops are made to close on Saturday mornings a large percentage of their present takings would be diverted into other channels to the detriment of the shopkeepers, and would no doubt reflect on the short-sighted employees who are now crying out for the whole Saturday.—l am> CtC" "LET WELL ALONE."
