The annual report of . the Petoht Tennis Club states that some verygood tennis was witnessed in the club Championships and the standard was undoubtedly improving. Winners of the events were as follows:—Men's senior championship, G. ; A. Pearce; men's junior championship, E."l..Robertson; men's senior doubles championship, B. Fleet and H. Owing to inclement weather conditions it was not possible to^ complete several third grade events. The committee did not proceed with handicap events, as owing to the great interest taken in ladder challenges (174 matches were played) and s also inter-club engagements, it was considered that it would be in the interests of every member.if the courts were not engaged for further match, play. The senior A team were runners-up in the inter-club competitions and the other teams did well. The necessity for association courts was becoming more urgent. The club had a full list of active members during the past season. Details of membership were as follows:—34 ladies, 43 men, 6 social, 12 honorary, and 4 life. During the winter1 months a table tennis club was formed. Two teams were entered in the competitions. An additional table and equipment was purchased for £2 8s out of club funds, the table tennis club being responsible for payment of the monthly electric light account and any other sundry expenses incurred on their behalf. J. W. Croiidis and E. I. Robertson gained representative honours. An amount of £193 17s was incurred for the resurfacing of Numbers 1 and 2 courts and also repairs to fencing. The courts were now in first-class order and the club would enjoy the benefit of. this outlay for several seasons. The overdraft now stood at £476 11s Id, but as no heavy expenditure was anticipated, during the coming season, this figure should be reduced considerably by the end of the season. __;
