TRENTHAM TRIALS

WANGANUI CANDIDATE^

(By "Rangatira.")

Trentham's team for the Wanganui Meeting occupied main attention in the work this morning, but other horses who will be coming in at the following meetings this and next month were also seen in serviceable tasks. The weather was wet, though the rain was not heavy, and the track, still firm, was greasy oh top.

Debham (W. Doyle) and Sigurd (A. Sim) were together and going well at the end of five furlongs in lmin 4 2-5 sec, the last half-mile in 50 3-ssec. The two-year-old Dissipation (Sim) beat Haupongi (R. Smith) by a couple ol lengths over three furlongs in 38sec. H. Telford's horses will be. ridden next week as follows:—C. G. Goulsbro', Dissipation and Sigurd (first day); P. Burgess, Debham and Sigurd (Guineas).

Might (B. Dougan) beat Boomerang (R. Webster) by a good length over a mile in lmin 46 3-ssec, which was in accord with his recent work, the best he has done at any time on returning from a spell. He will be ridden at Wanganui by one of the stable apprentices, A. Bennet or S. R. Far land, both of whom can claim the new 71b allowance.

T. R. George's othe.r representative, Free Gold (Sim), was tried with Galteemore (Bennet), who beat him by a length over six furlongs in lmin 18 3-ssec, the last half-mile in 51 3-ssec. Galteemore, on a track to his liking, went particularly well, so Free Gold's was not a bad gallop. Free gold is to be ridden next week by the stabla apprentice W. Doyle, who can also still claim a 71b allowance.

Trentham's only other representative at the meeting will be Myriam, who, with J. Nicolson in the saddle; ran an easy six furlongs this morning, coming home the last half-mile comfortably in 52sec. She is in capital order to step out on her career in open class, and she will have the services next week of H. N. Wiggins. Her stablemate, the hurdler Gay Mulla, is su£ fering from muscle soreness and will hot now be making the trip. Settlement (R. Lorigan) and Happy Heels ~(C. Sargent) slipped over six furlongs in lmin 21 3-ssec, the last halfmile in 51 3-ssec. The two-year-olds ; War Cloud (Lorigan) and the Pombal —Panfax gelding (L. Nesbitt) ran three furlongs in 38sec. Sunny Blonde (A. Sager) and Dancing Flame (L. Faulkirier) took 51sec for half a mile.

Alunga (Sim) and the two-year-old Peerless (Farland) came down from the three furlongs in 37sec, Peerless showing speed but running a little greenly. She is likely to compete in the parade at Wanganui and might accompany her team-mates to Avondale.

Trebor (Farland) went quite as well as Revival (Doyle) over half a mile in 51 4-ssec. Kinloch (Farland) beat' Rejected (Doyle) by a length over half a mile in 50 4-ssec. Hirierawe (Bennet) finished a couple of lengths ahead of Fairy Dale (Farland) at the end of half a mile in 50 3-ssec.

Windward (Nicolson) and Colin (J. McCauley) did the last half-mile of six-furlongs in 53sec. Nightlass (F. Power) took lmin 7sec for five furlongs. Cuddle (Doyle), after strong half pace from the winning post to the half-mile, came home the final portion in 52 2-ssec. Arctic King (R: Howe) required 57sec for his last- half-mile

Southern Blood (E. Burgess) and Polabian (D. W. Bush) were schooled at a fast clip over four hurdles. Southern Blood's only fault was in hitting the last fence rather hard; otherwise his exhibition was an excellent one. Polabian found the pace all he desired and he rapped every fence, but' was safe.
