Part of last evening's session of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union Conference was devoted,to tenminute talks by last year's vice-presi-dents on division matters. Each brought a different point of view. Mrs. J.,C. Wickham chose "The Inspiring Nature ;of . Our Work"; Mrs. Nu'tt, "Loyalty'and Friendliness"; Mrs. D. Simpson, ', "The Business End"; Mrs. Noel Adams, ■: "The Spirit of Service"; Mrs. J. E. Drake, "Organising for Conference"; and Mrs.:N. H. Ward, "Educational."
""■ ■■ Mrs. C. K. Wilson, the retiring president, by special request gave an impromptu; talk on many matters. "A wise man once said that to become immortalised everyone should plant a tree, dig a well, or write a book,"' said MrsA Wilson,-: "The Division, intend doingtwo of these things—write a book (on the ■: pioneer women of New Zealand) arid* plant \ trees—both to commemorate the Centenary.
