Lady Galway is now a Dame of the Venerable Order o£ the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem, says an oxchange. The King, on June 22, sanctioned a number o£ promotions and appointments to the Order. Lady GaLI way has completely recovered from j the effect of • her riding accident, and she expects to leave England on her return to the Dominion at the end of July. Lady Galway was at the Royal garden party on June 22. In connection with the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, other appointments sanctioned by the King include, as Commander, Sir Henry Horton, Sir H. Lindo Ferguson, C.M.G., M.D., and Mrs. Eliza Mary Balcombe Brown: as Officer Mrs. Mildred Cracroft Wilson. Mrs. Bernard Wood, Heretaunga, is visiting her brother and sister-in-law, Sir Cyril and Lady Ward, Christchurch. Misses Gray, McDonald, and MeCannon, of the staff of the Waipawa District High School, will visit Wellington next week to attend the New Zealand Education Fellowship conference. Mrs. Tristan Willcox, Christchurch, who has been visiting Wellington as the guest of her sister, Mrs. T. P. Hanna, Seatoun, will return south by the steamer express tonight. Mrs. F. Higginson, Whangarei, who has been making a six, weeks' visit to Wellington as the guest it her daughter, Mrs. R. Bond, has returned home. , ' Dr. Hazel Allison will leave for the south by the inter-island ferry tonight. Miss M. Trewern, Auckland, is visiting Wellington. Miss Olwyn Haycock, who will represent. New Zealand at the International Girl Scout and Guide -camp to be held at Briar Cliff Manor, New York, is a seventeen-year-old Nelson girl. She has never been abroad before, and is still a pupil at the Nelson Girls' College, to which she will return on the completion of her trip. She has been nearly five years a mem-, ber of the Girl Guides' Association, and is at present a company leader in Nelson. She sailed from. Auckland by the Niagara in company with Miss Rozilie Mac Donald, the Australian representative. Mrs. J. C. Wickham, of Wanganui, was the speaker for the W.D. women who visited 4he community "sing" which was broadcast from Wellington Town Hall on Wednesday. Miss Anderson, Christchurch, is j visiting Wellington; and is staying at | the Hotel St.. George. Mrs. T. Brook (Wellington) and Miss I. Trengrove (Dunedin) are staying at the Grand Hotel. Mesdames Miles (Dunedin)," T. Meadows (Foxton), and F. J. Casey (Cambridge) are among the guests at the Empire Hotel. Mrs. Recce, Auckland, is visiting Wellington and is staying at the Midland Hotel. Mrs. Haywood, Ryal Bush, Invereargill, is visiting Wellington, and is the guest.of Mr. and Mrs. -T. A. Crack.
