BLEAK DAY FOR OPENING
The Wellington Racing Club's Autumn Meeting opened at Trentham yesterday in the rain, and thougli the weather later cleared a keen wind from the south and the general dampness made it a day to be braved only by the keenest racegoers. . The track was greasy, but in"better order than might have.been expected. The attendance was moderate only, and the day's investments of £28,198 10s (£14,769 10s win, £13,429 place) were a decline of £1241 on the £29,439 10s put through on the corresponding day last year.
