THE CORONATION
ACCOMMODATION AND SEATS
{From "The Post's" Representative.) LONDON, February 20.
A Coronation accommodation committee has been set up with a central organisation to aid visitors. The Government is backing it, so that it is a thoroughly authentic body. Its purpose is to do the utmost to have accommodation provided for all visitors for.the Coronation. The first step has been to invite persons who have any accommodation at all to send details of it to this committee. There will be- ten inspectors whose duty it is to travel round constantly to see if the accommodation offered is suitable.
When collected, this information will be set out as a brochure which will be handed to persons applying for accommodation. The committee requests that inquiries should be made by letter rather than by personal call. New Zealanders who wish for help in the way of accommodation will find full details of the system at the High Commissioner's Office, where they were advised to make early application by letter or by cable. :
Naturally, a large number of applications have been received by the High Commissioner for seats on the Coronation route, and there seems every likelihood that he will be able to make satisfactory arrangements. The British Government has erected stands with ■ accommodation for 75,000 people, and of. this seating certain: blocks have been allotted to the Dominions. These seats can only be obtained through representation to their' High Commissioners by overseas people. It is stated that the price asked will be 15s for an uncovered seat and 22s 6d for a covered one. T.he exact position of the New Zealand allotment is not yet known. .
Here again, a cable prior to departure from New Zealand would be advisable if application by letter has not already been made.
