MR. BALDWIN'S LAST ACTS

(British Official Wireless.) (Received March 11, 2.30 p.m ; )

RUGBY, March 10.

With regard to reports that the Prime Minister intends to relinquish office shortly after the Coronation, newspapers now state that one of Mr. Baldwin's last engagements as head of the Government will be at a dinner which it is understood is to be given at 10 Downing Street, to the King and Queen on May 25—the date fixed for the re-assembly of Parliament after the Whitsuntide recess. On the previous night the Prime Minister will attend a banquet to the Prime .Ministers of the Empire. It is taken for granted by the Press that on his resignation Mr. Baldwin will be succeeded by Mr. Neville Chamberlain as Prime Minister and that Ministers, in accordance with tradition, will place their resignations in his hands preparatory to the formation of the new Government.
