AMERICAN STRIKES
SEVERAL MOTOR WORKS IDLE
DETROIT, March 8. The organisational director of the United Automobile Workers of America has announced that a strike has been called in all major units of the Chrysler Corporation at Detroit, following the refusal of the corporation to recognise the union as the sole bargaining agency. Other strikes are reported at the Chevrolet plant at Flint over the discharge of several workers, and "sitdown" strikes are reported at the Hudson and Packard factories.
