MR. LEWIS CANCELS SPEECH
WASHINGTON, March 8. Refusing to penetrate the picket line of striking employees of the Willard Hotel, the so-called "Residence of Presidents," Mr. Joseph Lewis cancelled an address he was to give at a Labour Non-Partisan League meeting in the hotel's ballroom. The leader of the "sit-down" strikers offered to withdraw the pickets and permit him to enter, but the C.1.0. leader said he approved of the strike, and therefore would- not enter the meeting, which continued without the principal speaker.
