SATURDAY'S FIELDS

EXCELLENT RESPONSE

There was only a small thinning-out at acceptances for the first day of the Wanganui Trotting Club's Meeting on Saturday, and all the fields are of the right size for the best kind of racing. Red Flush (who is likely to start favourite for the Wanganui Handicap on the strength of his outstanding performances at Nelson), Levity, Reno, Glorietta, and Kenworthy, are goodclass young pacers engaged in the principal events. It may prove significant that F. J. Smith has taken Frank Best out of the Wanganui Handicap, and reserved him for the sprint, the Morton Memorial Handicap. He has Levity as his representative in the two-mile event. The intermediate classes include such useful pacers as De la Paix, Ann Pointer, Northern Guy, Ropata, Savoldi, Effle Parrish, Abyssinian King, Mountain Flight, and Dusky Chum, and some excellent racing in this department is assured. Oi the trotters, likely improvers are Biworthy and Rowley's Wrack at a mile and a half, and Reception and Dollar Maid at two miles. Maiden pacers with reputations are Cash Down Transfer and Worthy Audubon
