SWEET AGNES'S RELATIVE

Bonnie Agnes, winner oi! the second division of the Juvenile Stakes at Motukarara last Saturday, had raced only once previously. That was in the Lyttelton Plate at Riccarton last month, when she was backward, but she had done well since and her victory was not unanticipated by her connections.

Bonnie Agnes is a diminutive two-year-old filly by Nightmarch from Rua Agnes, the dam of Sweet Agnes, who races in the same ownership, that of their breeder, Mr J. M Robertson, of Westport, and she is a member of C Emerson's stable Not a little of the credit of the win was due to the filly's apprentice rider, E. A. Jones, who recently came from P. Riddle's establishment in Sydney. ■ Jones shot the filly, put of the barrier smartly, and, having her always in first or second place, he kept a little in reserve for the sprint home and duly landed the filly, and himself, a winner for the first time.
