NIGHT RAID FILLY WINS
Nolana, who returned a good doublefigure dividend for her success in the first division of the Juvenile Stakes at Motukarara last Saturday, had had a little previous racing experience, but she had not been produced this season. Only recently she had joined A. S. Ellis's stable, before which she had done a considerable amount of work under her owner, Mr. J H. Watson. In her track work she had not done anything that would indicate early winning possibilities. However, she stayed on well on Saturday after being one of the first out of the barrier, and finally won well. Nolana is a three-year-old filly by Night Raid from Sunny . Brook by Sunny Lake from Arai-te-Uru, by Birkenhead, and she was bred by her owner. Arai-te-Uru was half-sister to Bonnie Scotland, winner of the A.J.C. Derby, Loyalty, winner of the G.N. Derby, and Scotia, dam of the N.Z Cup winner Bridge, and more recent winning members of the family have been Te Waipu, Murihiku. Money Order, Baskier. Kilrea, etc.
