TRAINING COLLEGES
OTAGO FILLING SHORTAGE (By Telegraph.) (Special to the "Evening Post.'.') DUNEDIN, This Day. Gratification was expressed by the chairman of the Otago Education Board at the fact that all eligible candidates for the teaching profession from Otago for admission to the Training College this year would be admitted. There were 117 applicants for admission to the Otago Board, and the quota for the province was 63, but owing to the fact that other districts were not able to satisfy the quotas Otago had been' called upon to make up the deficiency, this resulting in all eligible Otago candidates being admitted this year. "It shows 'that we have the teaching 'sense' more highly developed in Otago than in other districts," said Mr. Wallace. "As the position has developed it upholds the contention of the Otago Board all through the discussion on training colleges that they were closed down in the wrong place."
