REGATTA POSTPONED

SQUALLY CONDITIONS

EVENTS REARRANGED

A strong, gusty wind from the north and choppy seas caused the abandonment of the Anniversary Day regatta which was to have been held in Evans Bay today under the auspices of the Wellington Provincial Yacht and Motorboat Association. Strong squalls would have made conditions on the water extremely tricky, and it was considered by the officials that to have conducted the various events would have been to expose the boats to the danger of serious damage. The programme for the next two days' racing, has, therefore, been rearranged. - Tomorrow the T class handicap will be sailed at 10.15 a.m., the X, H, and N class handicap at 10.30 a.m., and the I class at 10.45 a.m. Tomorrow afternoon the inter-club event for fourteenfooters will start at 3 o'clock, and the Idle Along championship at 3.30— assuming, of course, that . conditions permit. There will be a race for keelers also, if enough assemble, over the usual Evans Bay course. This is set down to start at 2.45 p.m. On Sunday the T class handicap, starting at 10.30 a.m., is to be decided. In the afternoon the H and N class handicap event is timed to start at 2.30 o'clock, the X class handicap at 2.45, and the I class teams race at 3 p.m. Excellent entries have been received for the various events, the T class handicap Attracting 41 entrants and the Idle Along classes 55 boats.
