FARM LABOUR
OFFER OF ASSISTANCE
In view of the shortage of labour for farm duties, the secretary of the New Zealand Federation of Local Bodies' Employees, Builders, Contractors, and General Workers (Mr. P. M. Butler) has written to the secretary of the New Zealand Farmers' Union (Mr. A. P. O'Shea) stating that the federation may be able to assist the union and the farmers, if it is supplied with information as to what is required. It asks to be told the classes of men, and the number required, in various localities, the rates of wages, and general conditions of service. The letter adds that if the Farmers' Union will treat the matter as one of urgency, the federation will communicate with its branches throughout New Zealand and make every effort to supply Ihe needs.
