ANOTHER BIG CROWD

WAIRARAPA RACES

HAZOOR SCORES NEAT WIN

. Brilliant weather favoured the concluding day of the Wairarapa Racing Club's Summer Meeting at Tauhercnikau on Saturday, and it was a delightful day for the large crowd that was in attendance. Not only was the weather so greatly improved, but form worked out with better precision and it was easier for the general public to find at least some of the winners. The investments were £19,509, as against £11,317 10s on the second day last year, making a total of £41,953 for the meeting, compared with £27,803 10s twelve months ago, an increase of £14,084 10s.

There had been further rain overnight, but the track, with the drying morning, was firmer than on the first day and the going was better. The grounds, particularly under the trees, were still damp. The racing was of an excellent standard for the last day of the holiday carnival, even better than on the opening day, and most of the finishes were very keenly contested. The improved acceptance for this day and the splendid racing paid a real tribute to the work of. the club's handicapper Mr. J. E. Henrys. Hazoor scored a popular and comfortable win in the main handicap, and Dollar Bill secured a well-due victory in the other open event.
