RAIN IN THE NORTH
TRAINS DELAYED POOR TIME FOR CAMPERS (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, January 1. Wet weather throughout Auckland was reported today to be clearing, especially in North Auckland. It is expected by tonight practically all routes may be passable. Motor campers have had an unpleasant time in the past few days, particularly those whose equipment was unsuited to heavy rain or who chose places liable to flooding. Trains to Whangarei were delayed at Auckland on Thursday night and t.iis morning as a result of the line tetween Wellsford and Kaipara flats being flooded to a depth of six feet st Hoteo and Way by. The flood waters began rising at 4 p.m. on Thursday, and quickly covered an area of about \\ miles. The late train to Whangarei did not leave on Thursday night, and the ordinary express was not dispatched. Intending passengers were advised by means of wireless that trains could not get through, and a notice was posted outside the railway ijtation. The liner Wanganella. on a pleasure :ruise, was reported yesterday unable ;o enter Whangar ja Harbour owing to heavy fog. However, she anchored off Russell today and the passengers spent a day ashore in comparatively Sne weather.
