ROTORUA DOWNPOUR
REVELLERS CARRY ON (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ROTORUA, January 1. In pouring rain Rotorua experienced the wettest New Year in its history, but not by any means the least cheerful. The town was thronged by a very large crowd, and in spite of the conditions the great majority of the people were plainly determined to make the best of things. The usual processions were cancelled and were held today i:. conditions which were very little better, but on New Year's Eve there was a great gathering in the town square, where, in spite of the rain, people joined in community singing and other forms of revelry. Over 800 camping parties were in the borough motor camp, and the majority of these spent a very unpleasant three days. The weather now shows signs of moderating.
