SOLDIERS' CHILDREN
This morning v/as a special occasion
for the children of unemployed returned soldiers or those of soldiers on snaall pensions' and allowances in Wellington, the Returned.Soldiers' Association providing a special' Christmas treat for them. » As the children could not be brought together for the usual Christmas party, arrangements were made to issue Christmas presents individu-
ally or to their parents.
The children
" who called at the association's head- -■■■ quarters iri Victoria Street were not allowed to congregate, but filed past long tables to receive their gifts. A dozen or more willing helpers were kept busy from' an early hour preparing the gifts, and from 10 a.m. onwards .the rooms presented an animated appearance as approximately two hundred healthy, happy children filed through to receive mystery parcels, an individual Christmas present, a supply of fruit, an ice cream, and
the good wishes of Father Christmas,
•• The mystery parcels held numerous , r articles calculated to delight the chil- .,., dren, and, in; addition, every parcel 7 contained a. tooth brush .and supply -■• of tooth paste..
