THREE CHARGES
THEFT AT WANGANUI
Pleading guilty to three charges Involving the theft- of £5, a racing cycle valued at £9 10s, and an unemployment levy book valued at Is, Basil George Knox, alias William George Ashton, a labourer, aged 29, appeared before Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today.
Detective-Sergeant P. Doyle said that when the accused was working at the freezing works in ■ Wanganuf he stole £5 from a suit coat hanging up in the 'house at which he boarded. He subsequently stole a bicycle left in the street and rode'to Castlecliff, where he stole an unemployment levy book from the man he stayed with. Subsequently he cycled to Paimerston North and pawned the bicycle, using the levy book for identification purposes. He was; at present serving a sentence of two years', reformative detention on other charges. The money and levy book had not been recovered.
The accused was convicted and discharged.
