SPEED AND CORNERING
(Special to the "Evening Post.") PALMERSTON N. ,This Day. Motorists are still being fined in Palmerston North under the regulations for crossing intersections at a greater speed that 15 m.p.h. This fact led to a brief discussion in the Magistrate's Court yesterday. Counsel said he thought it was time that the regulation was wiped out and the Magistrate stated that no doubt it would be. He added that it was not keeping to the correct side of the road that was half the trouble. Even at 40 m.p.h. one would not get hit if on the correct side. > Counsel: When they do over 40 m.p.h. they can't get around corners and keep to the correct side. The Magistrate: Yes. The steering of some of these American cars is too slow. In New Zealand we want something a little higher geared.
