The Petone Homing Pigeon Club held two races recently from Whangarei (383 miles) and Temuka (277 miles). The race from Whangarei was flown under very unfavourable conditions, a thick mist, rain, and a strong southerly wind, and no birds arrived home on the day of liberation, but several arrived next morning. The following was the result of the race from Temuka:—A. Bold and Son's R.C.C. (velocity 909.9 yards per minute), 1; J. Bolton and Son's B.C.W.F.C. (909,1), 2; G. Woodward and Son's War Lad (909.05), 3; P. Mexted's R.C.H, (908.4), 4.
