The Health Department recently wrote to the Petone and Lower Hutt Borough Councils asking them to cooperate in providing an up-to-date morgue in the Hutt Valley for the holding of post-mortem examinations. The Town Clerk (Mr. H. Firth) reported that the finance committee considered that two undertakers in Lower Hutt had the facilities for holding post-mortem examinations. The Lower Hutt Borough Council had already expressed this opinion. It was decided to reply to the Health Department that the council would take no action in the matter.
