PIGEON RACING
The Petone Homing Pigeon Club flew its weekly race on' Saturday from Waiouru, an airline of 129 miles. Ninety birds competed, representing ten lofts. The birds were liberated at 10 a.m. by the stationmaster, who advised that the weather^ was fine but overcast, with a north-west wind. The birds put up a good performance, coveting the distance in 2hr 45min. The following were the first eight placings:-_<!. Woodward and Son's War Prince (1373.96 yards per minute), 1; R. Clark and Son's Nark (1370.042), 2; A.'Bold and Son's B.C.C. (1366.253), 3; W. Asplet's Royal Miss (1361.98), 4; F. Eriksen's B.C.H. (1357.93), 5; A. Drain and Son's R.C.C. (1352.82), 6; C. Culshaw's B.C.C. (1343.69), 7; W. Whittington and Son's Moera (1340.18), 3. ■ Next week's race will be flown from Taumarunui. ■
