COMPETITION BY PUBLIC SERVANTS

fTo the Editor.)

Sir, —In view, particularly of the restoration of cuts and limitation of | hours'in the Public Service, "Anti- ] Greed's" letter headed "Spare Time Work" in last night's "Post"- is timely and you, Sir, are deserving of all commendation for affording space to ventilate this glaring grievance. ■ It is hardly credible that, comparatively highly-paid public servants, some, to my knowledge, without children and with independent incomes apart from their salaries, should compete with civil workers who are hard put to it to make a living. Sir, in the name of humanity, I suggest to the Prime Minister and every member of Parliament that they put a stop to this unfair procedure. •

If the public servant considers himself to be better fitted for the other fellow's job, then let him resign from the Service and come out in fair and open competition where he will be heartily welcomed;—l am, etc.,

LIVE AND LET LIVE.
