MOERA BRANCH

A meeting of the Moera branch of the League of Mothers was held recently, the Community Hall being a blaze of colour with red berries and greenery. Mrs. McLean presided.

The president paid a feeling tribute to the late Mrs. E. Dawson (Dominion secretary and treasurer) reminding all of her courage, cheerfulness, and fine personality, after which all present stood in silence for two minutes.

Mrs. Gregor sang sweetly, ."There is no Death," Mrs. Wedekin playing her accompaniment.

Mrs. Kidson demonstrated the making of baskets from New Zealand flax. This proved very interesting and many of those present plied the needle under her supervision. She was the recipient of a. beautiful bouquet of flowers. '

Afternoon tea-was served by the committee, and as the meeting celebrated the third, birthday of the branch a handsome cake was cut and passed round/This was made and presented by the president, for which she was heartily thanked. Mrs. Hobertson thoughtfully provided a cake for the children in the creche. The choir sang "Crossing the Bar," by Gower.

Presidents and secretaries of surrounding branches were present, and many other visitors, and a most delightful gathering concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
