HOLLAND'S ENGLISH SUMMER

Princess Juliana would like to spend a summer holiday in Britain every year; apart from her own country there is no other place she loves better (states the London "Daily Telegraph"). Unfortunately,' her responsibilities as heiress to the throne of the Netherlands do not always permit of this, but Princess Juliana does the next best thing by riding her English "hobby-horse" as she calls it. She has a comprehensive collection of British souvenirs which range from bagpipes to bound volumes of newspaper cuttings.

The Princess is actively encouraging a scheme to create, an English summer in Amsterdam this year. A loan exhibition of pictures toy famous British artists is one part of the plan; a series of gala performances by the all-British ballet is another.

To do up lace curtains, it is not necessary to iron them. Spread them on an old sheet in fhe air, pull them down carefully into shape, pinning them down here and there. Leave them till quite dry-
