PETONE LIBRARY

Giving details of the work of the library for the quarter ended June 30, the librarian (Mrs. S. M. Shortt) reported to the meeting of the Petone Borough Council last evening that the number of subscribers showed, a steady increase. At the close of this .quarter the adult subscribers totalled 375, an increase of ten upon the number at the end of last quarter. There were now 34 more members than at the corresponding period of last year. During the quarter 113 new books, including 27 for the general section, were added to the library, and 21 new books were added to the juvenile section, which at present had a membership of 75 children.
