HOMEWORK IN SCHOOLS
The monthly meeting of the Wellington School Committees and Educational Federation was held last night, Mr. J. lyte presiding.
There was considerable discussion jn the subject of homework in pri-. Mary schools, and several speakers advocated the abolition of all homework. A motion was passed urging that all routine homework in primary schools be abolished.
The election of a delegate to the Dominion conference in Dunedin next month was deferred' until the next meeting. . :
A remit for discussion at the Dominion conference, to the effect that the size of classes should be, limited to 35 pupils, was passed without discussion.
The possibility of setting, up an educational magazine was discussed by the meeting, and Mr. A. W. Free said that he had in mind a monthly journal containing articles by leading educational authorities and general, information on matters concerning education.
