GOLDEN WEDDING

MR. AN& MRS. 'W^T. HARLE

A large and happy family gathering took place in Wahgariui recently when Mr. and Mrs.'H; T: Harle celebrated their golden wedding.

Mr." Harle' "was"born-' In Liverpool, England, in, August, 1863, and Mrs. Harle (nee Miss 'Ada Tait) was born in Wantage, Birks, England, in February, 1862. They Were married in East Boston, Ma!ss., U.S.A., on July 3/1886, and after their marriage they left, for England, living at Liverpool for a number of years, then moving to London for a time. They have five daughters and one son, all born in England. There are twenty-two grandchildren. Mr. Harle was with a shipping company: travelling: between Liverpool and Boston, afterwards joining the White Star Line, >journeying between London and New Zealand.

Mr. and Mrs. Harle came to New Zealand in 1911, arriving ,in March. The following month they took up positions at the Wanganui Collegiate School, Mr. Harle as steward (a position he still holds), and Mrs. Harle as matron of one of the boys' houses.

; The guests were welcomed by Mr.and Mrs. Harle's daughter, Mrs. L. G. Hindmarsh, of Wellington, who had organised the function. As well as, members of the family there were several old friends present at the gather-, ing, and manyi were the congratulations and good wishes for health and happiness in life.

Among themans messages received were a cablegram from sisters" and' brother in America, telegrams from friends in all parts of New Zealand. Mr. and Mrs. Harle's son arid daughters are Mr. W. Harle, of New Plymouth (who has.flve daughters), Mrs. G. F. Easton (one; daughter and one son), Mrs. L. G. Hindmarsh, of Wellington (one daughter and one son), Mrs. G. G: Hill, of Hastings (one daughter and one son), Mrs. E. R. Williams, of Te Horo (two daughters and two sons), Mrs. Brooks (seven daughters). . • . .
