HUNT FOR BURGLAR
SEARCH BY POLICE
When a constable discovered a broken window on the' ground floor of the building occupied by J. Ilott, Ltd., advertising agents,- at about 11 p.m. yesterday, a cordon of police constables was drawn round the block of buildings facing Lower Cuba Street and Jervois Quay between Mercer and Etarris Streets. I ••■■■■
Several constables, under Sergeant H; H. Russell, then searched the building, the search lasting several hours and extending into buildings occupied by Hutcheson, Wilson, and Co., Ltd., A. S. Paterson and Co., and the City Engineer's department. Sounds were heard during the progress of the search, and safe-blowing instruments and other equipment. were found in Ilott's building. There was a broken skylight in the roof of the building, but no other trace of the intruder was found.
