HARRIER SPORT
SUB-COMMITTEE RULES
With certain amendments rules drawn up on behalf of the harrier sub-committee were approved by the Wellington Amateur Athletic Centre last night.- The rules provide for the functions and extent of the control to be exercised by the sub-committee.
A net profit of £102 was reported from the centre's art union. Of 20.000 tickets printed 9720 were sold. The expenses, were £13.
Mr. E. A. Perrett was thanked for the comprehensive record kept by him of the results of athletic events last season.
Peeling reference was made by the chairman (Mr. H. Rose) to the death at Palmerston North last week of Constable E. G. Sutherland, formerly a well-known field events athlete in Wellington. Mr. Sutherland, said Mr. Rose, had done a tremendous amount of good for the sport, particularly in the field events section, the standard of which he had helped to improve. Messrs. H. Rose, T. W. Leslie, A. C. Kitto, and R. G. Ewing were appointed to represent the centre at a conference to be called by the Wellington City Council reserves committee for the purpose of discussing the allocation of th<» Hataitai sports ground in the coming summer season.
, As several delegates have been absenting themselves from meetings it has been decided to enforce the rule governing the matter. In future a delegate who misses three consecutive meetings is to be deemed to have vacated his seat.
