GAELIC CLUB

The president, Mrs.-A. Me Vicar, was in the chair at the monthly meeting of the Wellington Gaelic Club on Saturday evening. There was a large gathering of members and friends.

Mrs. McVicar welcomed Professor H. MicKenzie, patron of the club and a life member, who was piped into the gathering.

The Professor gave an illuminating talk on the "Origin and History of the Celts," for which he received a hearty vote of thanks. '

A welcome was also extended to Miss Russell Fergusson, the Hebridean folk song singer and player of the clarsack (Celtic harp). The president spoke of the great work being carried out by ■Miss Russell Fergusson and the irresistible appeal of. the Hebridean songs and music which had given the performer a world-wide reputation. After the lecture by Professor MacKenzie and a short talk on the extent and'the wonderful results of Miss Rus--sell Fergusspn's work, the musical and dancing programme was carried out. There were also selections by the club's orchestra, under Mr. George Gunn, and the club's pipe band under Pipe-Maior Graham.

Mr. Angus McArthur made an efficient M.C. Supper was supplied by Mrs. John McArthur and the ladies' committee. The evening closed with the singing of the Gaelic goodnight song and "Auld Lang Syne."
