NURSES' CONCERT

SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE

The Wellington Hospital nurses' concert given in the outpatients' hall on Saturday night was most successful. The hCA was crowded, and the various items were received with much enthusiasm: A novelty was a burlesque on the motion picture "The Big Broadcast of 1936," which proved both novel and entertaining, the features including the followings:—"The Man on the Flying Trapeze," B. Webster, R. Webb. P. Heaven; vocal solo, "I'll See You Again" ("Bitter Sweet"), N. Adams; tap dance, "A Quarter to Nine," J. Halley, G. Davidson, R. Maaka, T. Beechy: monologue, "Little Red Riding Hood." E. Hadfield; "Pop-eye the Sailor Man," M. Tattersall, B. Webster. P.-Loach, J. Sowman; trio. "Old Mother Hubbard," I. Eggers, P. Heaven,.M. Lynch; chorus, "Here's to Love- and Laughter." In the amusing one-act play "The Man in the Bowler Hat," the following took part: A. C. Tothill (the hero), H. Gibb Brown (the heroine), and R. Webb (the bad man). The members of the drill club gave a graceful eslisthenic display, and a pretty Spanish scene and ballet was presented by P. Heaven, J. Halley, T. Beechey, G. Davidson, R. Maaka, S. Carty, E. Pearson, M. Boyd, and P. Beaumont Orr. The following excellent items were also contributed to the programme:—Monologue, "Yes. Papa," Y. Carter; vocal solo, "Down in the Forest," G. Brandon; character sketch, "Ilda." M. Wiggins; vocal solo, "Pale Moori," i. loggers; trio, "Barcarolle," I. Eggers, P. Heaven, M. Lynch; humorous sketch, A. C. Tothill, E. Hadfield; vocal solo, "The Little Damozel," G. Brandon. The accompanists were Misses I. Deale and M. Grieve.

The concert will be repeated this evening.
