NELSON LOSE AGAIN
MARLBOROUGH'S SUCCESS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
BLENHEIM, July 11
In a match characterised by dour forward battling,-relieved by only occasional. flashes of combined back play, Marlborough defeated Nelson for the second ♦time ;this season, scoring 29 points to Nelson's 12. Conditions were ideal, but the presence of the All Black selectors, Messrs. Adams and Burrows, evidently gave the players stage fright, as the exhibition was below provincial standard. The packs were evenly matched, R. Woolley and Mcßryde being outstandr ing for Marlborough' and Lovell and McLean for Nelson. Bythell and Robinson were a good paisr of fiveeighths for the winners, but Nelson was quite without penetrating backs, a fact which largely accounted for its defeat.
Marlborough's points came from good back movements, which however, were staged only in spasms. Tries for Marlborough were scored by Kotua and R. Woolley (two each), Mcßryde, McMafion, and Barnett, Masters converting four. Newman kicked three penalty goals and McLean scored a try for Nelson.
Playing at Nelson, the Marlborough junior representatives scored 28 points to Nelson's 16. -
