INDOOR BOWLS
The indoor bowling rink was fully occupied on Saturday afternoon. So large was the attendance that in some of the games the rinks consisted of five players on each side instead of the usual four. Mr. J. Lowry, who is going to Christchurch, had a farewell game with some of his friends, Mr. E. J. Hill, of Lower Hutt, leading the opposing rink. The rinks and scores were:—Petone: McEwan, Hunter, Silberry, Lowry (s), 24. Hutt: Taylor, Ball, Hadwin, Hills (s), 18. During last week the holders of the Winter Green Ferns withstood two challenges. The holding rink is Wrigley, Ridley, McWhannefl, Wellings (s). In the first instance they beat Moult, Bell, Allen, Johnston (s), 22-19; and in the second defeated Faulkner, Smith, Allen, Nicholls (s), 24-16.
On Saturday the holders of the badges once more retained them. The contending, rinks were:—Cooper, Morpeth, Bell, Doherty (s), 19; challengers, Moult, Carswell, C. Duncan, and Johnston (s), 16.
