MANAWATU SHOW
OPENING THIS WEEK,
One o£ the year's most important North Island fixtures, the Manawatu Winter Show, will open at Palmerston North on Wednesday. At 1.15 p.m. on
hat day there will be a representa-
tive hockey match between Wellington and Manawatu, and at 2.30 p.m. the old Rugby rivals, Te Aute College and Palmerston North Boys' High School, will meet. Dog trials will be the chief event on Thursday afternoon, and on Friday there will be hunting and other horse competitions, the entries being a Winter Show record. Saturday will M a very full day, the attractions being national dancing competitions, amateur cycling races, and a representative shield hockey match betweep. Manawatu and Auckland. On Monday, June 22, the "Hell Drivers"- will be rehearsing for their carobatics the next day, the King's Birthday, when they will provide an hour of breath-taking thrills. The woodchopping competi-
tions start on the King's Birthday, on which day a steer-riding competition will be held. On each day during the show free vaudeville entertainments will be given each afternoon and evening.
