FISHING ETIQUETTE

COMPLAINT TO MINISTER

Should a launch be driven round about the foreshore of a lake or river where a fly-fisherman is-in the water plying his rod? That question obtruded several times during the hearing of deputations by. the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry) in the Rotorua'"district. Strong complaints were made by-fishermen whom the Minister met. Instances were quoted in which launches had been deliberately driven under the nose of. men who had waded out in Lake Rotorua to fish.

"It is a question of etiquette, I suppose," the Minister replied. "It's hard on the men standing in the water plying their rods. Personally, I do not know the code of etiquette of the launch driver, but if it is the one complained of> by fishermen, then I think it definitely not a good one."
