TEENTHAM STAKES

INCREASE IN DISTANCE

The conditions of the Trentham Stakes, which has been incorporated in the third day's card of the Wellington Racing Club's Summer Meeting this season, were finally decided by tne programme committee of the club yesterday afternoon. The proposed penalty conditions have been omitted, and the distance has been increased from one mile to one and a quarter miles. Colts and geldings will carry 8.10 and fillies 8.7, which are the Derby weights for January. The stake will be £.400. The race will be the second item on the final day (January 25 next).

The only other alteration made in the programme concerns the three highweights. Riders in these races shall be jockeys who since January 21, 1934, have ridden three horses in a steeplechase or hurdles in New Zealand, instead of jockeys who have ridden so many times in such races during the last two years.
