OWNERS WERE CONFIDENT
The Urenui owner-trainers of the Felding Cup winner Silk Sox, Messrs S, and R. G. Topless, displayed complete confidence in the black's ability to win, writes "Hurry On." As soon as Silk Sox had been saddled and done his preliminary they proceeded to the secretary's office and scratched their horse for his second day engagement. They . then prepared their motor trailer to take the road immediately after the race.
Silk Sox demonstrated that their confidence was not misplaced by winning the Cup from end to end. In fact he never gave his owners or his supporters any anxiety. As soon as the race was over the horse was hosed down, rubbed, and dried, and half an hour later he was in the trailer on the journey home. He reached Waitara at 8 o'clock that night and was in his box about an hour later. No doubt he was given a good feed before settling down for a well-earned rest after a Cup victory and a 160 miles journey.
