APOLLO WOMEN'S CLUB
SINGERS ENTERTAINED
A charming party was given toy the Apollo .Women's Club at the N.Z.E.I. rooms recently, -when the guests of honour were the-Apollo singers and their wives.. The rooms were artistic^ ally decorated for the occasion by some of the members of the club.
Musical items and amusing games made the evening pass all too quickly. Apollo singers contributed' four partsongs, which were heartily applauded, and Miss Dorothy Rbbson gave much pleasure with her pianoforte solo, "Fantasie Impromptu." A dramatic elocutionary number was very^ well rendered by Mrs. F. Poynton. A very amusing play reading, "Wanted—a Cook," was^given by, Mrs W. H. P Walshe.v Mrs. Temple White, Mrs. ■Webster, Mrs. Thomas, and Miss Douglas. An amusing competition Elopements", was won by Mrs. Thomas and Mr. White..
JThere was a pleasing interlude when Mrs. Temple White, presented Mrs. Webster,, (president'of the Apollo Women's Club) with a gift from the club, -as she is. leaving for a holiday tour to London and Paris. Miss Hannah /Wilson was. also the recipient of a beautiful bouquet as a token of appreciation of the work she has done for the Apollo singers. A delicious home-made supper was served. Mr. W.. H. P. Walshe was M.C.
