CAUSE OF TEMPERANCE
WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN UNION
The annual meeting of the Wellingi ton branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held recently. Mrs. Murray (retiring president) occupied the chair. The annual report showed good work done, including hospital visiting, distribution of literature, and the celebration of the golden jubilee. The bal-ance-sheet showed a satisfactory credit balance. There are now 80 members on the roll. . The reserve fund also showed a credit balance. A solo was sung by Mrs. Hirst. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Miss C. E. Kirk, J.P.; vice-presidents, Mesdames Murray, Perry, and Rowe; recording secretary, Mrs. Ross; corresponding secretary, Mrs. H. Chisholm; treasurer, Mrs. Porte. A hearty vote'of "thanks for past services faithfully carried out was accorded Mrs. Murray with musical honours. A vote of thanks was also passed to Mrs. H. Chisholm for her work in arranging so carefully the paper, "A Glimpse into the Pas%" for the golden, jubilee. A new member was received, afternoon tea was served, and the; singing of the Doxology closed the meeting. .-■•;■ ...
