While fishing in the bay yesterday, Mr, Hans o'laf Andreasen, aged,: 41, rnarriedrcollapsed and expired. :-,'At ah inquest; today the Coroner,. Mr. E; 3. Scaritlebury, returned a verdict that death was due to heart failure.:

An eight-roomed wooden dwelling in High Street, Motueka, owned by Mr. J. MacG. Inglis was totally destroyed by 'fire early this morning. The house was vacated on Saturday and was to have been occupied by a new tenant today. It was insured in the New Zealand Insurance Company's Office, it is understood, for £700.

The Nelson Chess Club will be represented at the New Zealand championships at Wellington at the New Year by Mr. E. H..Severne. The club ended a successful season with a match between president's and secretary's teams, the results being (president's players named first): —Wilkinson 0 v. Scott 1; Sharland 1 v. W. Meads at the head of the B grade ladder. Miss Nita Rosslyn, the "Girl in Red," an English lady who is making a cycling tour of the world, through skidding in loose metal had a fall on | the, Wangamoa Hill this morning and was admitted to the Nelson Hospital with concussion and also cuts on the face and body.
