LADY ARIKI TOA'S DEATH
(Special from "Hurry On.")
NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. The Rangitikei. hunter Lady Ariki Toa died this morning under rather sensational circumstances,on the New Plymouth track. With L. G. Morris in the saddle she was just pulling up after a round of pace work when she was seen to stagger. Morris hopped off quickly and ,the mare fell through the inside rail. She picked herself up, careered round for about a minute, and then dropped down. dead.
Owned by Mr. H. A. Glasgow, of Turakina,' Lady Ariki Toa was regarded in a most promising light. She won the Otairi Ladies' Bracelet at Marton recently and beat all except Santoft in the Ladies' Bracelet at Awapuni.' . ■
