The bride was Miss Joan WalkerSmith, daughter, oi Sir Jonah WalkerSmith, M.P.: for Barrow-in-Fumess, and Lady'Walker-Srnith. She married Mr. John St'Leger Thornton, son of the Rev. C. C. Thornton and Mrs. Thornton, of St. Matthew's Vicarage, Surbiton, at St. Mark's, North Audley Street, W. , FORMER BRIDESMAIDS. Lady Walker-Smith's, bridal gown of white satin has reposed in a box since her wedding day. The bridegroom's father officiated, assisted by the Bishop of Barrow (Dr. Herbert Pelham), who gave the address. . The bride is novelist,-barrister, and journalist. She does not practise at the Bar, a good deal of her time being taken up in' editing "The National Builder," a technical magazine. The bridegroom is employed by Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd. He was president of the Cambridge University Athletic Club, and captained the Oxford and Cambridge athletic team which toured the United States in 1933.
