His Excellency the Governor-General has given much pleasure to the officers ana members of the English-speaking Union by accepting the position oi patron of the organisation.

Mrs. J. D. Sievwright has returned from a holiday spent in the South Island, accompanied by her sister,; Miss McCaUum, of Dunedin.

Mrs.'R. Colson, Auckland, is spending a; holiday in Wellington and has taken a house in Wadestown.

Miss Butts has returned from an extended visit to Hawke's Bay.

"* Mrs. H. M. Boyd is a Wellington visitor tp Auckland.

Mrs. W. B. Stevenson, of Blenheim, is visiting- Wellington.

Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Cunliffe, of Wellington, are visiting Blenheim.

Madame Winnie Fraser has returned to Duhedui from a month's visit to Christchurch and Hanmer Springs.

Mrs. Jack Parr has'returned to Auckland from a visit to Nelson and Wellington.
