STORM ABATES IN BRITAIN

Snow fell yesterday and on Satuiday throughout the British Isles, and sharp frost,at nights .covered tho roads with ice and disorganised traffic. '-Throughout northern and eastern England.many roads wero blocked by snowdrifts, and the snowfall was 'sufficiently heavy .in London on Saturday night to delay buses, trams, and railways. The icy galrt which raged throughout Friday and Saturday died down yesterday, leaving widespread damage in its wako. Tremendous t>eas beat all round British coasts throughout tho weekend, several small vessels being lost, fortunately without loss of life, and six lifeboats responded to calls of distressed shipping.
