HUTT VALLEY ASSOCIATION

At a meeting of the management committee of the Hutt Valley Cricket Association held last night, presided over by Mr. H. Webster (chairman), Mr. Wray was appointed to fill the vacancy on the selection committee caused by the resignation of Mr. G. Pointon. _ Mr. Wray also acts as an official umpire for the association.

Letters received from General Motors and Metters United Clubs stated that the General Motors A v. Woollen Mills and the Metters United v. Central fixtures were played on wickets that the players in the teams concerned had rolled and prepared, as no wickets were ready for them. They claimed that they should not be liable for their ground fees. It was decided to notify the clubs that .where matches had been commenced they would be liable for ground fees. The Taita Club notified that the Taita B v. Waiwhetu B fixture was not played, as the umpires and captains of the teams agreed that the wicket was unplayable. As in the case of the Randwick fixtures, that match will not be played unless it lias any bearing on either the grading of teams or the championship. Owing to uncertainty regarding several grounds the management committee has been unable to supply clubs with a list of the fixtures and grounds for.the first round. However, it was decided last, night that each club be given a list of fixtures, the grounds to be allotted week by week.
