CRICKET
MERCANTILE LEAGUE
It was announced at last night's meeting of the management committee of the Wellington Mercantile Cricket League, presided over by Mr. J. J. Furlong '(chairman) that the patron (Mr. K. A. Wright, M.P.) had generously offered a shield for competition in the F grade.
A letter was received from the secretary of the Rugby Union enclosing a draft copy of the agreement between that body and the Mercantile League. .• This was referred to the honorary solicitor of the league.
An application for affiliation was received from the Seatoun Club. After a discussion on the constitution of the club, it was decided to grant the affiliation. The new club will be placed in G grade, in which there is at present a bye.
A protest from the U.L.M. Cricket Club on the grounds that the E. G. Kane Club had played an unregistered player in the match between those clubs last Saturdaywas upheld, after the correspondence had been fully considered. U.L.M. were awarded five points.
At the request of Mr. N. Hassell, recording secretary, an emergency committee, consisting of Messrs. Hassell, Eeles, and Roberts was set up to deal with questions of emergency as affecting registrations of players.
